Supported by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation, the Sie Center at the University of Denver Korbel School has begun hosting a series of public forums designed to increase interaction between academics and policymakers. These "Denver Dialogues" have included talks by Mel Duncan, the Executive Director of Nonviolent Peaceforce, and Suzanne Fry (pictured here), Director of the Strategic Futures Group at the National Intelligence Council.
The Carnegie grant is also supporting the Sie Center's work on a study of nonviolent strategies in violent conflicts. The study will include analysis of data from conflicts in Africa. As part of the project there will be a workshop where practitioners share their opinions on the conventional wisdom about nonviolent actions during violent conflicts.
